The method that will be used is based on a highly effective coaching method used and developed by Organic Retreat Fountainhead and the Australian Depression Institute for programs to help people with stress related illness.This method has been developed based on helpful techniques from both psychology and philosophy and has roots in personal construct psychology, rational emotive therapy and mind-body connection philosophies. The developers have combined ‘the things that really work’ into a practical and simplified method.

What makes this method different to other methods for stress/anxiety/depression?

Life coaching will help you understand how to eliminate stress. The method explains very clearly how it is in actuality not the events that cause your stress, but the beliefs that you hold about them.

You might have heard that stress has to do with your way of thinking. This coaching method is very effective as it will help you find out what beliefs you have learned somewhere in your life, that are at the base of your conscious thinking and the way you feel. Many beliefs are stored in your subconscious mind, originally as ‘programs’ to protect you. When they do not line up with reality, they will cause stress. By becoming aware of those beliefs you will start to understand why you feel stressed (or anxious or depressed) in certain situations.

Once you realise which beliefs are the cause of your stress, you will see the need for a new understanding so you can revise them. The Life Coaching method offers this new understanding by teaching you a more accurate view on reality and life. Once you learn more about how life really works, your thinking will start to line up with reality more and you will start to feel less stressed/anxious/depressed.

What is the difference with traditional life coaching?

Traditional life coaching focuses on helping you to set goals for yourself and how to achieve them. The method used at You & Life is focused on helping you to reduce and prevent stress, anxiety or depression, by teaching you how life really works. This understanding puts achieving goals in a different perspective. It could make you feel more relaxed about achieving goals or help you see what beliefs have been holding you back in the past. Whether that helps you to achieve certain goals is up to you and life!
